A Retired Boeing 727 Turned into a Sweet Home — Bruce Campbell 64 years old is an inventive engineer from Oregon doesn’t just love planes, he lives inside of one. Campbell lives in this plane 6 months every year, and spends the other part of the year in Japan. After purchasing a retired Boeing 727-200 for $100,000, he placed it in his backyard, otherwise known as the middle of the woods in Oregon. Campbell’s start up costs were actually quite considerable. He paid $17,000 to move the plane from an airport to a staging site, $20,000 to rent the staging site for four months, $21,600 to remove the wings and tail, and $25,000 to finally move it to an unusual and innovative home and office. Campbell is working to restore some of the plane's original features, from the cockpit to flight stairs, a working lavatory, LED lighting and some of the seats. What an awesome way of giving the airplane a second life.
